Amanda Silver

My name is Amanda Silver and I am so grateful to have this opportunity to be on the USPC Inter-Pacific Exchange team. I am from Westchester, NY but I am now currently a sophomore at Davidson College just outside of Charlotte, NC.

I grew up riding, and was about 12 years old when I was introduced to Pony Club. In the summer of 2011 I passed my “A” rating. About two weeks later I started my freshman year at Davidson, so it was a pretty exciting and overwhelming experience. Later I found out that I am the first “A” rated pony clubber from Golden’s Bridge Hounds Pony Club since 1977, and the first in the Metropolitan region since 1984!

I have competed up to the intermediate and CIC2* levels of eventing, and had the opportunity to ride at the 2010 North American Junior and Young Rider Championships at the one star level. Right now I am enjoying my college experience by focusing mostly on schoolwork and various clubs and organizations. I miss being able to ride everyday, but I still get to teach riding lessons on the weekends, and make the 2 and a half hour trip to Aiken, SC as much I can!

My experience with Pony Club has definitely made me the rider I am today. Through the program I gained knowledge and confidence, and I am proud to apply those to everything I do in the horse world and in the rest of my life.
